Polyester can often be used on its own or in a combination blend with fabrics such as cotton or even microfiber suede. If the combination is the former, or more heavily polyester, then these fabrics are easily washable. The key to this is to not let the fabric get too wet, as that is where bacteria and mould can fester; however, using a damp cloth and very small amount of detergent is perfectly fine. Alongside regular vacuuming, polyester is a durable and strong fabric choice.

One must only be careful when polyester has been combined with other more delicate fabrics such as microfibre, suede or velvet. See their relevant sections above for how to treat your furniture with a little more delicacy.
