With quarantine upon us, many Britons are unable to leave their houses. What better time to start your spring decorating!

People the country over are now spending more time than ever in their living rooms. Lockdown has given us all the opportunity to embrace our creative freedoms and start decorating. Here we focus on how you would tackle a large wall in your living room.

Artwork & Paintings

If you have a small room, an oversized photograph or painting will get people’s attention and set a stylish tone. Black and white images are more at home in more minimalist spaces, while an abstract, more vibrant picture is great for a space that needs a splash of colour.

Alternatively, you can also add colour and personality to any wall with a themed gallery. To design a gallery wall, display a large collection of photographs or art and add hangings or other ephemera.

You can also go for more simple, cohesive frames for a slick, polished look or use a selection of ornate variations to give more character and interest.

In smaller spaces you can opt for extending the gallery wall right up to the ceiling to create the illusion of more space.

Accent Walls

A wallpaper or tapestry has a great effect on a large wall and can also reflect the character of your home. Using an adhesive wallpaper also has the advantage of giving you sound-absorbing, waterproofing and provide additional insulating.

Bright colours or patterned wallpaper works effectively as an accent feature wall too.

These decorative accents can have a big impact on a small space. Also, adding a textile wall art piece can also break up blank spaces.

Tapestry's and wall hanging is also a useful way to add more colour and also maybe a pattern too, whilst also softening a space.

Pretty textiles and vintage scarves framed proves to be an effective look as well.

Mirrors

Reflecting light into a small space makes them feel brighter and also appear bigger. Mirrors are great for this. Hanging oversized mirrors or even displaying several smaller pieces can also work well in living rooms.

Shelves

Run out of floor space? Why not take your collections to the walls. Installing floating shelves and displaying hardcovers, small decorative items and other pieces. You can also use shelves to showcase some of your characterful items such as hats and even maybe your bicycle! Create a striking statement with this practical display.

Add a Television

Why not incorporate your television into the décor? Adding a flat-screen television onto your large wall is an excellent way to free out some space on top of your media cabinet. It also gives a great focal interest to the wall.

Add some panelling

Infuse your space with different textures by adding panelling.

Wooden boards can spruce up any room. Whether its a bedroom, dining room, bathroom or even your hallway.

Add some greenery

Traditionally plants are usually cited in the corner of rooms or on windowsills. However, that does not need to be the case. Plants can be an attractive and effective feature to display on your walls, or alternatively mounted or hanging on a wall, adding nature and life to your living space.

Light fantastic

Using different lighting in a room is a great way to illuminate large walls.

LEDs in particular are very effective instead of a traditional lamp and can be used to create an individual statement in the room.
