The Asiatic Athera rugs are woven with a blend of 65% Acrylic and 35% Viscose, they feature a high sheen finish and a luxury weighted high and low pile. Available in a choice of decadent jewel-like colours, each piece is individually over-dyed to create unique variations throughout the collection.
Acrylic is a fine, soft, and luxurious fabric used in many rugs to give striking colours as well as good stain resistance. Acrylic fabric is made from a man-made fibre that gives the appearance and feel of wool. It dyes well, taking vibrant colours well. The fabric breathes, it absorbs and releases moisture quickly. Crucially for rugs, Acrylic resists moths, oil and chemicals, and also sunlight degradation. It is softer than wool but does not deal with crushing as well. Acrylic rugs offer a similar texture to wool at a lower price point. Viscose rugs have increased in popularity over recent years due to many factors; the main of which is the fact that viscose is extremely soft, almost silk-like, and is available at a fraction of the price of real silk
